THIS IS ABOUT Eid
Eid al-Fitr, theĀ Festival of Feast, marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, theĀ Festival of Sacrifice, marks the end of the pilgrimage to Makkah (Mecca). Over six million US Muslims celebrate Eid along with 1.8 billion people around the world in over 100 countries.
Established in 2007, NC Eid Festival, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 educational and charity organization, started sharing this Festival Beyond Borders, a joyful occasion celebrated all over the world, as an American Holiday Event with the help of various communities in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Town of Cary graciously sponsored, provided funds, and arranged this wonderful festival with the help of a large number of volunteers, individual and corporate sponsors, and the local communities. Participants came from local schools children, cultural organizations, and professional groups to entertain the audiences with their music, performance, art, food, and bazaar. Public Broadcasting Television (PBS) also participated and gave air time for promotion while the organization volunteers helped it in its annual fund raising at its facility in Durham, NC. The event was arranged at various venues including Town of Cary facilities, Booth Amphitheater, and inside and around the Cary Arts Center located at Dry Avenue. Thousands of visitors, including local population and significant government officials enjoyed the event.
